Maker's Mark Our Rating: 86%
Maker’s Mark

Name: Maker’s Mark

Bottled By: Beam Inc.

ABV: 45%

Proof: 90

Age: 5-7 Years

Notes: Maker’s Marks has an aroma of wheat, oak, and bananas. Maker’s Mark has a smooth wheat and nutty flavor with a nice slight burn on the tongue. This Bourbon is very smooth and has the perfect thickness but the finish is rather short. This is a go to Bourbon for lots of folks and with good reason, it is always readily available and very consistent. It is priced right and must have for any Bourbon lovers shelf.

History: Maker’s Mark was born in 1954 after its originator T. William “Bill” Samuels Sr. purchased the distillery for $35,000 dollars. Maker’s Mark is aged for 5-7 years and bottled when the company’s tasters agree that it is ready. The barrels are rotated from top to bottom in the aging warehouses to even out the differences of temperatures during the aging process. Each bottle is hand dipped in red wax to give it a distinctive look. Bill’s wife Marjorie Samuels came up with the idea of dipping each bottle in red wax and also created the label. A U.S. Trademark is held on the red wax seal of their bottles. You can find more information on Maker’s Mark as well as recipes and gifts by visiting

  1. My favorite bourbon. My palate doesn’t recognize the banana, however. Probably because I hate bananas.

    1. Thanks for your comment, it’s strange a lot of people recognize bananas and a lot don’t. It is definitely faint, thanks again for your comment and visiting our blog.
