Travel writer, food critic, and humorist Morgan Murphy brings us an excellent new book entitled Bourbon & Bacon and as the title says, it really is the ultimate guide to the South’s favorite food groups. Bacon and Bourbon features well over 100 recipes, tasting notes on over 75 different different spirits, and 14 bacon purveyors. The recipes are easy to make and feature numerous full color, high quality images. Make a simple, hearty Saturday afternoon treat like Tennessee Cheddar Bacon Ale Soup, perfect for fall or a larger portion like the Bacon Wrapped Beef Tenderloin. One of things I enjoy most about Bourbon and Bacon is there dessert recipes, something you don’t often find. Some of our favorite recipes so far are Bacon Popcorn, Maple Bacon Cupcakes, and Fat Elvis Ice Cream Sandwich which uses crumbled bourbon candied bacon. Bourbon and Bacon gives you a rich history and lore about theses fine ingredients. Cocktail recipes, entree recipes, appetizers, and desserts are just a few of the categories within the book.
