Name: Onyx Moonshine
Nose: Corn, Citrus, Alcohol
Palate: Alcohol, Honey, Apples, Wood
Finish: Short and dry, with some subtle apple notes and a flavor that disappears after a few seconds
Overall: On the nose Onyx Moonshine has a strong alcohol scent to it with light notes of corn and citrus. At first sip you are greeted with a flavor reminiscent of the nose but with a strong alcohol flavor with slight honey and apple notes. There is a spicy burn to the whiskey and also a light earthy wood flavor. The finish is short and dry, with some of the same apple flavors which quickly fade after a few seconds. For me, there was not too much flavor with this whiskey. I wanted something more. I tried it neat and in a cocktail and I enjoyed it best in a cocktail. For some reason I was expecting a bit more corn flavor with this whiskey and I didn’t get it. All of the flavors were very faint with this whiskey and hard to detect over the strong alcohol notes. Overall, there just seemed to be something missing with this whiskey and it wasn’t for me.
