Maker’s Mark Third Still

Maker's Mark Third Still_03

After a great deal of time and effort, Maker’s Mark Distillery’s third still is live and the bourbon is flowing! Fastidious about quality and hands-on bourbon making, the third still will increase bourbon production in the Maker’s Mark® way. The third still is a mirror image of the distillery’s two existing stills, guaranteeing that Master Distiller Greg Davis can replicate the same time-honored process, quality and consistency set forth by our Founder, Bill Samuels, Sr., over 60 years ago. Sure, it may take a bit longer, but the purposefully inefficient process will remain just as it’s always been. The new still will sit next to the two existing stills that currently produce every drop of Maker’s Mark Bourbon.

Maker’s Mark Distillery is one of the state’s most popular destinations, and notably the first distillery in America to be recognized as a National Historic Landmark. With a rich family history, the distillery continues to make bourbon the same way its founder, Bill Samuels, Sr., did over 60 years ago. Considered the world’s oldest operating bourbon distillery, Maker’s Mark promises a truly unique, intimate experience that sheds light on the specialness and tradition of making Kentucky bourbon.

Maker’s Mark Distillery’s third still is made of solid copper and stands at approximately 45ft. tall and 3ft. in diameter. The new still will join two new boilers, 21 more fermenters and a new grain roller. What does that all mean? More Maker’s Mark! How much more Maker’s Mark? About 850,000 more Mint Juleps’ worth of Maker’s Mark per day!
