Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky

ABV 40%

Proof 80

The light gold appearance of the Glenfiddich 12 Year set the tone for this sweet Scotch. Fruity aromas, namely pear and green apple, dominated the nose. Honey also had a strong presence. Oak, cinnamon, and spice grew more obvious over time. Subtle notes of peat could be easily overlooked. On the palate, pear, green apple, and honey were the dominant flavors. Comparisons to green apple Jolly Ranchers crossed my mind, although there was nothing overly sweet or tart about this drink. The finish was long, warm, and smooth. Cinnamon, spice, and oak lingered along with the green apple and pear to remind me of a freshly baked fruit pie with cinnamon.

At a recent local gathering that involved a variety of Scotch whiskies, a majority of the attendees chose the Glenfiddich 12 Year as their favorite. At around $45 per bottle, it is a great value and will be a regular in my Scotch collection.
