Grilled Watermelon Cooler

1/4 cup grilled watermelon

2 ounces bourbon

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

1 ounce local honey

2-3 dashes angostura bitters

1/2 cup ice

Slice seedless watermelon into 1/4 in. triangular shaped slices. Place the watermelon pieces on grill and cook on each side until you have noticeable grill marks. Remove the watermelon from the grill and allow it to cool completely. Remove the rind and cut the flesh into small pieces. Place the watermelon pieces in a cocktail shaker and add the bourbon, honey, lime juice, bitters and ice. Shake for about 30-40 seconds. Pour the contents into a glass of your choice and garnish with a piece of grilled watermelon. Enjoy!




Allegheny Recipe

1.5 oz. bourbon

1 oz. dry vermouth

1 tbsp. blackberry brandy

2 tsp. lemon juice

lemon twist for garnish.

Add bourbon, dry vermouth, brandy, and lemon juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist. Enjoy.


John Collins Recipe

John Collins

2 oz. bourbon

1 oz. fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon sugar

3 oz. club soda

1 maraschino cherry

1 orange slice

In a shaker filled with ice, combine bourbon, lemon juice, and sugar. Shake for 15 seconds. Strain in collins glass 3/4 full with ice cubes and add the club soda. Stir and garnish with the cherry and orange slice.

Here is a variation to this recipe from Marlon Hall.

1 1/2 oz Maker’s Mark
3/4 oz Laird’s apple brandy
1/2 fresh lemon juice
Fever tree Club Soda

Shake all ingredients except soda and strain over ice into Collins glass. Top with soda.

Suffering Bastard Recipe

Suffering Bastard

1 oz. bourbon

1 oz. gin

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 dash Angostura bitters

1 oz. grenadine

4 oz. chilled ginger ale

Pour ingredients into an old fashioned glass and top with ginger ale. Garnish with mint and orange slice.

Bourbon Flip Recipe

2 1/2 oz. bourbon

1 1/2 tablespoons simple syrup

Egg whites from 1 egg

Ground or freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish

Pour the bourbon and simple syrup into a shaker 2/3 full of ice cubes. Add the egg whites. Shake very well. Strain into a chilled wineglass. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Enjoy!


Suburban Recipe

3 oz. bourbon

1 oz. dark rum

1 oz. port

3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Fill a cocktail shaker a quarter of the way full of ice and add the Angostura Bitters. Add the bourbon, rum, and port and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Add 2 ice cubes to an old fashioned glass and and strain drink into glass. Enjoy!


Bourbon Fix Recipe

2 1/2 oz. bourbon

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon pineapple juice

1 pineapple spear, for garnish

Pour the bourbon, lemon juice, and pineapple juice into a shaker 2/3 full of crushed ice. Shake well. Strain into a highball glass with crushed ice. Garnish with the pineapple spear.


Bourbon Collins Recipe

2 oz. bourbon

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon simple syrup

5 – 6 oz. club soda

1 orange wheel, for garnish

Pour the bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a shaker two-thirds full of ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Add the club soda. Stir briefly. Add the orange wheel.
