Overall: Yellowstone’s 2017 bourbon arrived a few days before Thanksgiving and I was looking forward to trying this one as I’ve enjoyed all the previous offerings. On the nose there is a vanilla and dark cherry aroma up front and some hints of cinnamon, pecans, and oak on the back end. At first sip I was greeted with an oak flavor with some notes of vanilla and the spice of nutmeg mixed in. I noticed a slight nutty flavor with this one as well. The finish is medium in length, has a slight spice to it but no real burn. There are flavors of rich caramel, dark cherries, and oak. This is a dry whiskey but not overly dry.
Overall, I enjoyed this years offering from Yellowstone. I sipped this one neat and with a splash but enjoyed it best neat.
This years Yellowstone carries a price tag of $100 and in my opinion is in line with the quality of the bourbon. The flavor profile of this whiskey hit home for me and I really enjoyed it.
