Name: Russell’s Reserve 10 Year
Bottled By: Austin Nichols
ABV: 45%
Proof: 90
Notes: On the nose warm notes of rye, tobacco, wood, smoke, and leather. At first sip there are strong earthy tones of tobacco, rye, grains, nuts, and wood which seemed expected from the nose. The taste of cinnamon, anise, and black pepper are present and it has a fair amount of spice with a slight burn. The finish is long and smooth, no bite or burn, with some spice and wood flavors, no sweetness. Russell’s Reserve 10 year is a bold and spicy bourbon. I enjoyed this bourbon but not nearly as much as some of the other Wild Turkey offerings. I would buy it again and I’m interested to see how the bottle opens up. I am going to do a tasting with some friends and get their opinions. Wild Turkey is quickly becoming a staple on my shelf at home. Wild Turkey 101 is readily available and one I always keep on hand, the price is perfect and the taste is great. Russell’s Reserve 10 Year can be picked up for $30-$35 which seems to be priced right.
