Review: I am a whiskey guy but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy something else from time to time. Last week when I tried a Tom Collins made with Bittermilk No. 2 mixer, I was quite impressed. It was very refreshing, especially since the weather had just started warming up and I spent a great deal of time outside that day. At first sip, I got a wonderful burst of citrus flavors, most noticeably fresh limes and oranges and a subtle bitter flavor. I really liked the bitter flavors and thought they made the drink. Like the Old Fashioned mixer you can definitely tell this is a quality product and it makes an excellent cocktail. The bitter flavor seemed to balance the cocktail for the most part but it was still very sweet. This mixer made such a simple tasting drink and was perfect for relaxing a warm spring day.
History: With deep roots in the restaurant and bar industry, husband and wife team Joe and MariElena Raya sought out to simplify the process of making craft cocktails at home. They sourced all natural, organic, and unique ingredients. Each compound uses a bittering agent, a sweetener, and an acid. While playing off classic cocktails, they add complimenting botanicals and aromatics to brighten flavor and add special characteristics to each bottle. We use creative techniques to maximize flavor including roasting, burning, smoking, barrel aging, percolating and macerating.
