Overall: On the nose there is a subtle spice and light wood aroma. At first sip I was greeted with a slightly warm vanilla flavor with a smooth maple syrup flavor with notes of oak and cloves slowly coming in. Warm vanilla flavor up front lead me to believe this bourbon would have some burn but it remained gentle on the palate. The maple syrup flavor was authentic, not artificial tasting, and provided a smooth feel to the whiskey but the cloves coming brought a slight spiciness. The finish was long and with a strong maple and dry oak flavor. The finish was exceptionally smooth and this whiskey had virtually no burn which surprised me due to it being a higher proof whiskey. Overall, I enjoyed this offering from Bulleit. I have always been a fan of Bulleit’s whiskies for their quality and this offering was no different. I enjoyed Bulleit Barrel Strength best neat. At a suggested retail of $49.99 I believe the product is priced right for what you get which is nice to see. Bulleit Barrel Strength is currently only available in select markets. I recommend if you have the opportunity to get your hands on a bottle to pick one up and give it a pour.
