LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (May 29, 2014) – Four Roses’ Limited Edition Single Barrel Bourbon will be released this spring and features a tribute to the brand’s loyal following.
Master Distiller Jim Rutledge selected this year’s Limited Edition Single Barrel from 11-year-old OESF barrels, one of the distillery’s 10 unique and distinct bourbons.
The bourbon is barrel strength—uncut and non-chill filtered—with a proof ranging between 108.3 and 127.6. It offers unique aromas of clove and fruit that mingle delicately with hints of sweet toffee and brown sugar. Flavors of creamy mint, ripe cherries, vanilla and pear present on the palate give way to a long, smooth finish of candied fruit and sweetened oak.
“This year’s Limited Edition Single Barrel is a tribute to the loyal following we are so fortunate to have,” said Rutledge. “This bourbon went into the barrel and was put away at a time when Four Roses had just returned to the states and it’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come as a company since then.”
The Limited Edition Single Barrel bottle pays tribute to Four Roses’ loyal fans by including a toast submitted during the Year of the Toast campaign that celebrated Four Roses 125th anniversary. The campaign encouraged consumers to submit their favorite toasts via email and social media, with one toast selected to appear on this year’s Limited Edition Single Barrel bottle. After reviewing hundreds of submissions, Four Roses executives chose the toast from Frank Wheatley of Louisville, Kentucky.: “If I could age like bourbon, I wouldn’t mind getting old.”
Four Roses’ handcrafts 10 unique and distinct bourbons, mingling them in different ways to create Four Roses Small Batch and Four Roses Yellow Label products. One of these bourbons is hand selected to become Four Roses Single Barrel.
Four Roses will produce and distribute approximately 5,000 bottles of the 2014 Limited Edition Single Barrel Bourbon, which will be available on retail shelves across the country in mid-June.
