Sugarlands Distilling Company, crafters of award-winning moonshine in the Smoky Mountains, has entered a research and development phase with Lost Spirits in California to complement their newly announced Whiskey Project.
Lost Spirits recently unveiled a portable aging reactor, called THEA One. THEA One offers a revolutionary, state of the art way of designing and engineering quality aged spirits. This year, Lost Spirits announced that it had successfully replicated the chemical signature and accompanying taste profile of 20-year-old rum.
“The Lost Spirits’ system gives us an opportunity to make our premium, craft spirits available to the public at a quality level unimaginable for a young distillery,” said Greg Eidam, Head Distiller at Sugarlands Distilling Co.
Sugarlands Distilling Co. announced in May the launch of The Whiskey Project with the intention of distilling a series of whiskeys by employing traditional and modern methods, varieties of barrels for aging, and distinctly unique mash bill recipes.
“We at Lost Spirits are delighted to announce that we are working with Sugarlands Distilling Company. The company has produced some wonderful whiskeys and is a perfect home for our new THEA One,” says Bryan Davis, co-partner at Lost Spirits.
The first stage of the Whiskey Project, the distillation of a traditional rye whiskey, began in March. The company currently offers nine flavors of award-winning Smoky Mountain moonshine. Sugarlands Shine is available for purchase in 19 states.
