Baltimore, Maryland: The Baltimore Whiskey Company announced today pre-sales for a limited run of single barrel rye whiskey, the first rye whiskey distilled in Baltimore in more than 50 years. Already distilled and and aging, their first barrel will be cracked and bottled in 2018. 200 bottles from barrel number 001 will be made available for pre-sale at the Baltimore Whiskey Company distillery located in Remington. They are available for pick up at the distillery only; they will not be available in stores or via shipping. The bottles will be signed by head distiller Eli Breitburg-Smith with a limit three bottles per customer. The bottles are available for pre-sale purchase on the Baltimore Whiskey Company website (http://thebaltimorewhiskeycompany.com).
“We are extremely excited,” said Max Lents, owner. “It’s the first barrel of rye whiskey distilled in Baltimore since distilling left the city decades ago, and it’s something that can never happen again. It would be a shame to blend the first barrel of Baltimore distilled rye, so we’re releasing it in a limited, single barrel format.”
The Baltimore Whiskey Company began distilling in October of 2015, releasing the Baltimore Shot Tower Gin to great acclaim. Their 1904 Ginger Apple Liqueur and Charles St. Apple Brandy are expected to be released in early March 2016. The Baltimore Whiskey Company is currently open for tours, tasting, and bottle sales every Saturday from noon to 4PM and during regular weekday working hours.
