The Teeling Whiskey Company, Ireland’s leading independent Irish whiskey producer, has released an exclusive Single Barrel bottling programme just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. This series involves 12 individual casks of Irish Single Malt whiskey hand bottled for some of the top American on and off premises accounts on both the East and West Coast of the U.S.
The 2016 U.S. Single Barrel release consists of 13 Year Old Single Malt Irish whiskey distilled in 2002, and initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels for the first 12 years before being finished exclusively in ex-White Port barrels from the Carcavelos region of Portugal famous for its beautiful light fragrant fruity flavor.
The Teeling Whiskey Company is the first whiskey producer to ever use this type of White Port barrel to age whiskey and deliver a truly unique taste that works perfectly with the underlying taste characteristics of Irish whiskey. Each bottle of Single Malt is numbered, hand filled and bottled in its most natural form at cask/barrel strength.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT CARCAVELOS WHITE PORT
Carcavelos is a Portuguese wine region centered on the Carcavelos municipality in Estremadura region and includes land near the cities of Cascais and Oeiras. The region has Portugal’s highest wine classification as a Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC). Located at the very southern tip of the Estremadura region, the region has a long winemaking history dating back to the 18th century when Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, Marquis of Pombal owned vineyards here. The region is known for its fortified wine production, creating off dry, topaz colored wines that have nutty aromas and flavors. While once a thriving wine region, world-renowned in the 19th century for its tawny colored fortified wine, in the modern era Carcavelos has been devastated by real estate development in the suburbs of the capital city of Lisbon and nearby coastal city of Estoril.
TEELING WHISKEY HERITAGE AND THE WHISKEY HERITAGE OF THE LIBERTIES
The Teelings have been crafting Irish whiskey since 1782 when Walter Teeling had a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in The Liberties of Dublin. At this time there were over 37 different distilleries in Dublin alone in particular centralised in the industrial engine room of the city: The Liberties; the Coombe, Newmarket and Smithfield.
During the 19th century Dublin whiskey became globally recognised as the premier whiskey in the world and some of the largest distilleries of the time emerged from these smaller operations in Dublin’s Liberties. The remains of many of these can still be seen to this day however in 1976 the last Dublin distillery shut down with production moved to Midleton, Cork.
