Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling is delighted to announce that Rimfire was recently recognized as one of the Top 12 Single Malts in America. The recognition came in a June article from Eater titled “Meet the 12 Best Single Malt Whiskey Distilleries in America” by writer Jake Emen, who also writes for Whisky Advocate magazine. Ranger Creek Rimfire was listed alongside many other well-regarded single malt whiskies from across the U.S.

American Single Malts are an exciting, emerging category of whiskies that are created in the style of Scotch but made in the U.S. instead of Scotland. Rimfire is Ranger Creek’s unique take on the style. While many scotches are smoked with Scottish peat, Rimfire is smoked with local Texas mesquite. The end result is a complex, scotch-style whiskey that’s lightly smoked with a tropical fruit nose and a hint of roasted chocolate. It’s a great option for scotch drinkers that want to try something made local. More information and tasting notes on the whiskey are available on Ranger Creek’s website.

Rimfire is made from grain to glass in San Antonio by Ranger Creek and is distributed at select retail stores in Texas like Specs, Total Wine, select Gabriels, select Twin Liquors, and fine independent retailers. Whiskey lovers in 37 other states can purchase Rimfire online through Ezra’s. More information on where to find their whiskey in person or online is available at http://www.drinkrangercreek.com/where-to-buy.

About Ranger Creek

Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling is a combined brewery/distillery handcrafting beer and bourbon in San Antonio, TX one batch at a time. They are the only first modern microbrewery in San Antonio, one of a few combined brewery/distilleries in the U.S., and one of the only combined operations making both beer and bourbon. They focus on interesting recipes and use local ingredients from the state of Texas as much as possible. The company uses much of the same equipment to make both beer and bourbon, which is possible because in order to make bourbon, beer must be made first. They encourage visitors to San Antonio to sign up for one of their regularly scheduled tours and come by for a visit.
